Thing # 6 of 23

The two sites I choose from Web 2.0 awards list that I find helpful for my lifestyle is Ask.com and Amazon.com.
In the classroom and everywhere that I take my children the ask.com is real handy. I can use it on my phone or computer to type in any question. For example, when kids used to ask parents why is the sky blue while driving in the car, parents would say its just the reflection of the ocean. Not true at all parents. Now we have Ask.com and you can type in those questions and get answers back immediately. In a classroom that works perfect to start your day with a brain teaser. I would have a different student each day type in a question that we all have wondered about and that would help move the class day. For my class it can be any subject as along as it is clean and age appropriate.

My second choice from the web sites is more of a personal one. That would be amazon.com. I love when I can not find an item in the stores I can go home and shop for it through amazon. 99% of the time what I need is there and I can get it shipped for free!!!! In fact if the super saver amazon do not have the items, it gives you comfort in letting you chose other sellers as well. I buy all of my daughter's ballet items on line because the stores are just to expensive.  I have not figured out how to use this website in my classroom yet but if you have any ideas please share them with me.

  1. I love your idea for ask.com. I have never even thought of this site as a school 2.0 site but it makes sense. As far as Amazon.com I think the MP3 downloads would be helpful in a classroom. They might help aid in a presentation or certain songs might even signal different things depending on the age group. Most of the downloads were free so this might be a good use of the site.
